A collection of stories about spring RV travel
Sometimes, we can’t help it. We set off for the season’s first long road trip and start crooning the words to Willie Nelson’s signature anthem. Cliché? Perhaps. But it happens. And while it’s hard to beat the actual feeling of being on the road again, nothing breaks a dulcet melody quite like the sound of a tire exploding beneath your trailer. Or a water tank bursting. Or your engine overheating.
Early season RVing has a way of revealing the weak spots on your rig, which is why it’s so important to thoroughly inspect your motorhome or trailer before you venture down the highway. Are the batteries charged? Does the oil need changing? Are the roof seals still intact? These things are worth knowing.
As stories came together in this issue, we thought about the many other things worth knowing about early-season RVing—like when it’s time to replace your tires, or where to travel during shoulder season, or what to look for when you take your motorhome out of storage. Things always happen when you get back on the road. But, hopefully, using this issue as your guide, those things will be exclusively joyful—like that music you may or may not be making with your friends.
